PE and Sport
At Egerton our physical education curriculum is supported by Mutliflex and many local sports clubs and coaches, this support ensures that all children are able to access a range of sports and activities. As a school we are part of the Knutsford Schools Sports Partnership, enabling the children to access competitive and non-competitive sports competitions. Our high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It also enables the children to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. The opportunity to compete in sport and other activities build their character and helps to embed our values respect.
All children will complete a minimum of 2 hours physical education a week, they are also offered a range of sporting equipment to use at break times along with group games ran by our Phys Kids leaders from Year 6 at lunchtime, twice a week.
Our junior children also have timetabled sessions at the local swimming pool were they have weekly lessons, to develop their confidence in the water, teach lifesaving skills and we aim to ensure each child can swim confidently a minimum distance of 25 meters. Our school sports day is held in June every year and in recent years we have also been part in a Kenyan Schools Partnership Sports festival were the school team has collected points along with their sister school in Kenya to gain an overall winner.
Below, you will find the 'Curriculum and Outcomes' document attached for this subject. This document lists how the objectives of the National Curriculum are covered throughout each year group and each half-term. You will also find an overview of the subject areas covered and the key outcomes expected for each child to be considered working at the expected standard. Alongside this document, staff utilise the vocabulary and skills progression created by subject leaders during their planning and assessment. These progression documents are in place to ensure that all learning is differentiated appropriately, builds upon previous years and leads into the next, and fully covers the National Curriculum and beyond.
