Coronavirus

4 January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

National Lockdown

With immediate effect, schools are closing for most children until further notice.  Egerton will be open for critical workers’children only from tomorrow.

Critical workers

There is no obligation on critical workers to send their children to school but we are ready to provide for them from tomorrow. Please complete this form from the link below by 9pm tonight if you are a critical worker and require your children to attend school so that I can organise the staff for this:

Please ensure your children are dropped off at the main entrance at 9am and picked up from there at 3.20pm. I will write to you again with further details.

Learning at home

We will be using the same structure to remote learning as we did from March last year using Seesaw and Tapestry for Reception children. All class teachers will be operating remote learning from tomorrow morning. A morning video will be posted by the teachers and activities will be posted on the class pages of the website. Given the short notice, please do not expect these before 10am. Mr Webb is working on a new format for exercise but that may take a few days.

We have three key messages to share:

• Do what you can and when. Do not worry if all activities have not been completed and make time for play and relaxation.

• Only Mrs Hooper and the class teacher can see the work that is posted.

• Don’t worry if work is not posted on a particular day – just do whatever is possible. This helps the teachers support every child.

Please use this situation to support yourselves too in your working days and decide with the children what they do and, most importantly, when to fit in with your work patterns. These times demand of us a greater level of flexibility, patience and empathy too.

Mrs Broadbent and Mrs Davies have put in place specific support for our most vulnerable children and those with special educational needs.

All children have a right to access their learning at home. If you are need of a device for this or have any technical issue to access Seesaw or Tapestry please get in touch via admin@egerton.cheshire.sch.uk

Egerton Lions Club

Parents that have booked onto the Egerton Lions Club during the closure will receive a full refund for those sessions.Booking will reopen as soon as we are issued with a notice to reopen. Any queries please contact Mrs Brown via admin2@egerton.cheshire.sch.uk

I will write to you again once I have any more information.

Best wishes
