Refugee Fabulous Finish

Date: 7th Nov 2019 @ 4:43pm

To finish the Refugee theme, the children split into groups and planned a lesson to deliver to their parents!

This activity was the final one to be linked to their current Mantel of the Expert work. The children had been working for the Refugee Council throughout the theme to investigate important knowledge linked to Asylum Seekers, Migrants and Refugees. As employees of the Refugee Council they then spread the work of the council to ensure that people were being taught about this important subject.

The four areas of teaching were:

1) Reasons why people become an Asylum Seeker, Migrants and a Refugee.

2) Correct terminology of Asylum Seeker, Migrant, Displaced Person and Refugee.

3) Well-known people who were (or have family members) Asylum Seekers, Migrants and a Refugees.

4) Geographical location and figures of people that are forced to flee their homes.

The Refugee Council employees delivered their lessons perfectly and the feedback from family members was outstanding.

Well done Year 6; this was a great end to a really interesting theme.
